Because term papers are projects that require such stamina and commitment and that determine such a large percentage of one's grade for the semester, students often approach the end of a semester with anxiety about finishing their papers. In these cases, students may find it helpful to seek some term paper relief, which may take several forms.
First, if students who have been devoting themselves consistently to the project just need a break from their term papers, relief may come in the form of watching a movie or going to a basketball game, and this break from work may rejuvenate the student enough to finish the project. In college, students have to choose when to work and when to relax, and often a student who has been working steadily all semester just needs an evening or two to forget entirely about any assignments that are due.
At times, however, one may need some extra term paper relief beyond simply taking a break. The student should ask for any assistance he or she needs to finish the assignment, and several resources are available to all students. For example, the student who needs help finding all the appropriate sources may ask the instructor for a bibliography. The student who needs help writing may ask the university's writing lab or a professional service to help him or her synthesize the information well and to craft a strong argument. The student who needs term paper relief in the editing stage may simply ask someone or hire someone to proofread the paper. When students ask for specific help on their term papers, relief often comes in the form of someone else's shouldering some of the load for a while, which can be very comforting.
As a last resort, if the student loses all hope of completing the assignment on time, he or she may ask the instructor for a deadline extension. The student should be aware that this provides only limited term paper relief, because it only delays the inevitable, but sometimes in a pinch an extension can vastly improve the student's morale and his or her likelihood of producing a good term paper.
