If the paper intends to persuade the reader of a certain point, the student should identify the thesis statement, the argument's major points, and the pieces of evidence that support those points. The student should also observe how the introduction and conclusion grab the reader's attention or cause the reader to think. If the paper intends to inform the reader about a subject, the student should notice at what level the paper presents information, such as whether it surveys a broad area of information or whether it discusses one tiny subject in great detail.
Free sample term papers can serve as invaluable tools in understanding the nature of a term paper assignment. However, if the student carefully reads a free sample term paper but still has questions about certain aspects of the assignment, he or she should consult the instructor.
